Hi,
I read with interest Georgina’s article featuring Wanda. I noticed she waters her plants every day. Here’s my tip (for what it is worth). During dry weather, I recommend heavy watering (about 2x10L watering cans per row) once (large plants) or twice (small plants) a week. The key is to ensure enough water to thoroughly soak through into the soil. After watering: test the soil in a few exposed places with a stick and if the soil 4-6” deep is not wet, then apply more water.
This method results in reduced water loss due to evaporation, and discourages shallow plant roots.
I hope this is of some help.
All the best,
Alec.

Alec’s someone who literally knows his onions, and all the other crops that he grows in abundance.
So his advice is always worth considering.
