Allotment Update 25th April

Plant Sale

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will not be able to have our AGM and Plant Fair on Saturday 16th May.

A new date for the AGM will be set once the lockdown period has been lifted.

However, members of our committee have been working hard to grow plants for the sale, and we do not wish to see these go to waste.

These will be available to plotholders to pick up as follows:

From the beginning of May plants will be put outside the poly tunnel as they become available. There will be no price list, but there will be an honesty box by the plants for plotholders to pay what they wish. This will be emptied every day. If you prefer, money can be paid by bank transfer using the following details: Pontcanna Permanent Allotment Association, 30-98-94, 02568231.

Please do take advantage of this arrangement. It would be such a shame to see the plants, and all the hard work, go to waste.

Shop

There are still many items in the old shop which may be useful at this time of year but because of Council instructions we are unable to open the shop for general access.

However, the committee has agreed to allow plot holders access via an on-line arrangement.

E-mail pontcannapermallotments@gmail.com. Put ‘SHOP’ in the heading. You will be e-mailed a pro-forma with items for sale and cost. On receipt of payment (via bank transfer) the items will be left at the associated plot to avoid close contact (using intervening gloves for handling items).

These are the remaining items left in the shop and are offered at clearance prices, whilst stocks last.

It would be helpful to assist placing items if the plot number is displayed and clearly visible.

Waste Removal

While manure and wood chip are accessible to any who want it, please keep your distance and only use the piles when no-one else using it. All other areas of the site beyond your own plot are off limits. Please don’t offload your green waste to other parts of the site, even if you have done this in the past.

Take your rubbish home with you, or keep it on your plot.

General comments

Stay safe, use hand sanitiser after opening/closing the gate, and wave at your fellow plotholders from a safe distance. Enjoy!

Happy gardening
